Jason sat in his study, whiskey in hand and dancing shadows on the wall only companions.
A wooden box on the table mocked him. It's been weeks since his father passed, leaving it behind. He didn't dare to open it.
Jason borrowed a sliver of courage from the whiskey and grabbed the box. As he turned it around, the memories of him and his dad, covering for days over puzzle boxes, flooded his mind.
He slid the side wall and banged the pin out, revealing a hidden compartment with a note.
The scribbled words sent tears to Jason's eyes.
"I love you J, keep solving the puzzle of life without me."
A cup of coffee also keeps the creative juices running here in the lab!
My 100 words story, prompt: Puzzle
Sandra's mind is puzzled by what her new neighbour told her yesterday,
"watch your back",
The neighbour's aged face is no stranger to her.
As she walks down the street where she live, she thought that the last time someone had said that to her was 20 years ago, when she walked down the street and was approached by a handsome young man who said, "you're very pretty, so watch your back". She never saw him again, but she remembers those piercing blue eyes every day.
She never saw him again, until today, when he told her,
"watch your back"
Puzzle me curious. The pieces don’t fit. One or more is missing. No way to put the cut up jigsaw together. Like my life I return the pieces back into the box and forget about what was once seen. I think it’s just a dream.
