Your stories will be judged by yours truly,
and .The deadline for submissions is Friday December 13th! And the winners should be announced in about a week later on December 20th.
The winning writer will be awarded by the ultimate bragging rights and also win a free copy of my book. I would love to offer more prizes but unfortunately don’t have the resources for it. (If anyone wants to sponsor the contest feel free to hit me up)
I can’t wait to see what stories you folks come up with!
The Fiction Dealer Christmas Schedule
Here at the Fiction Dealer lab the work never stops, and besides a more festive approach to your favorite microdosing, we will turn the festive mood with longer stories.
In the upcoming weeks you can expect three different flash fiction stories!
Felony in a Santa Suit — A heartfelt story about a parent that would do anything for their kids on Christmas Eve.
Silent Night, Sinister Night — When Santa Claus is coming to town is not a good thing.
Summit of the Gift-givers — Silly tale about an annual meet up of the various Christmas gift givers.
About the Raccoon and Writing
It’s been some time since I shared any personal info. So here goes My book has come out about two weeks ago. Which means I can finally call myself an author, and I can tick that one huge checkmark that I had on my list of dreams since I was a kid.
Right?
Well it doesn’t feel that way. I guess it won’t be really fulfilled until my novels are out. Which means most of my writing attention goes to the novels from now on.
Other than that, there’s not much to share from my life, I’ve been pretty boring lately.
My schedule looks something like this:
work
write
be a responsible adult (I’m not good at this)
sleep (optional)
repeat
However, I’m trying to be better at connecting with my readers. That’s why you can expect more action on the Substack Chat! I want to know what you guys are working on, and chat about writing often. Make this little community feel even more close-knit. So feel free to join!
And that’s about it for now! I look forward for the festive season and I’ll reach out again in a more personal update by the end of the year :)
Cheers!
~Miguel
Submission for the Holiday 100 mg dose
He sloshed the tankard, twirling in wine-fueled debauchery on Saturnalia. Grabbing the naked woman’s arm, he lurched forward, trying to remain standing. He kissed her in passing. Her laughter danced.
The God Saturn is satisfied this year. The suckling spilled rich blood on the altar, foretelling a successful planting as the days grow longer. The year was 336 AD, and the Bacchanalia was just beginning. All appeared to be well.
The Roman soldiers slashed their way thru, cleaving the unruly crowd into piles of death.
“Conspirators! Devil Worshipers!” Soldiers screamed. “The Holy Days have begun. You will honor this holiday.”
I got one in, just in time. Tells me that sometimes, there really is merit in staying up all night with a bottle of whisky.
Merry Chrissy Miguel. May the sun light you up this midwinter and bring warmth to your purring heart.
