Hi!
It’s been a while since I did a proper author update. This post has been in my drafts for three months :) And it’s not even the one I originally wanted to publish.
If you’re relatively new here, you’ve only heard from me through my micro-fiction. But this used to be a monthly check-up on what I’m doing, how’s life, and a reminder that there’s also a person behind the words—so let’s get to it.
May hiatus
My wife and I are traveling to Greece for the next week, and while I really wanted to get some micros scheduled, I didn’t get to it. This means that the Fiction Dealer will stop dealing for a while, and we’ll return to the regular posting schedule on May 26th.
Traveling is the greatest fuel for my stories, so expect some bangers when I get back!
Birthday boy Miguel
I’m turning 27 next week, and last year I wrote this for my birthday post here on Substack:
However, thanks to you and this Substack, I might be able to finally break through and make that dream come true. I promise myself that by my next birthday, there will be a book with my name on my bookshelf. And hopefully, it will be on some of yours as well.
And here we are, a year later, I’ve released a collection of Micro-fiction which is on my shelf and on some of yours as well! I’ve been a part of a collection with other writers, and there’s exciting novel progress going on! More on that below.
Starting my Substack account has been one of the best decisions of my life, and I want to thank every single one of you who is here with me reading, commenting, and supporting.
Y’all are the greatest. ❤️

My Microdosing Fiction Collection of 100 micro-stories with blank pages for anyone to fill with whatever their inspiration craves, is now on sale! The sale only shows up when the book is in the cart.
New novel on the horizon
Cool news on my novel progress! I’m about 80% into the third draft of my magepunk-fantasy-mystery novel (cross-genre much?) called Quietus.
I’m in love with this story’s overall direction and hope to present it to beta readers in about a month. If you’d be interested in beta reading, let me know! I’m looking for readers of fantasy, noir, or mystery genres.
I’m super excited to share more about this project because it’s been five years in the making, but it’ll have to sit in the pot for a little while longer.

What’s next for the Fiction Dealer
I’ve been toying with exciting plans to TFD in 2025, but since work has been a bit too much for me these past couple ofmonths, I never got around to sharing those. But more is cooking, so stay tuned.

Happy birthday to you! I hope you and Mrs. Miguel enjoy your stay in Greece. I've never been, but my father-in-law and hubby (along with my brother-in-law and dearly departed mother-in-law) had spent several summers there back in the '60's and early '70's and tell me that it's a lovely place. Please eat lots of spanakopita and baklava for me! 😎
Hmmm... I'll have to think of some good prompts for writing until the 26th. I can certainly use some from your book, but the hummingbirds returned last week, so I have hummers on the brain. With that in mind, I think my next set of Teeny Tiny Tales (after today's) will consist of a seven day serial of stories about Roberto, and his girlfriend, Roberta, 100 words a day - that should be fun!

Miguel took his wife’s hand, squeezing it gently, shedding tears of gratitude. “No need for wishes, my friend,” Miguel assured him, “All my dreams have already come true."
Kev nodded. “Well, okay then, but does somebody have to die to get a party going? Let’s rave!”
Suddenly realizing that he was talking to the God of Death, Miguel’s mouth dropped open.
“Fear not, little buddy, I’m on vacation, too,” Kev assured him. So they partied on!
