They called it speed dating for relics. Whatever youngling thought of that wasn't very respectful, in Vince's opinion, but he signed up anyway. What else to do at his age, right?
His body was frail, but mind and charm sharp as a razor. The speed part of speed dating was overshadowed by the lack of hearing and memory issues. But with a few stories from his youth here and a few compliments there, suddenly Vince had a partner for every bingo night of the week.
That night, he walked back to his room, smiling but alone, clutching an old photo of the only woman who had ever mattered.
Raccon note: This story is partially inspired by my wife’s grandpa who at the stunning age of 90, found a new girlfriend in his senior group. Which, I think, is really cute.
