Your story is wonderful. Being an Elementary School person, my story is for young readers.

WITCH HAZEL

Hazel lived in a cottage in the wood.

Every October she prepared a Halloween party for the children in the nearby town.

“Here they come!” Hazel cackled excitedly.

“Witch Hazel, we love you!” the children hugged her black dress.

They put on the masks and costumes Hazel prepared for them. Like little goblins they danced around the Halloween table and then had a Halloween feast.

When it got late they kissed Hazel goodbye. “We’ll be back next year!”

Prompt: Witching Hour 80 words

In the morning my voice will be hoarse and my neck will feel stiff. I’ll clean my teeth twice and brush the coppery taste, foul and familiar, from my tongue. I’ll press the bruises like inkblots on my skin and hardly wonder how I got them.

I’ll brew coffee, take aspirin, skip breakfast as usual. I’ll check the weather: rain. I’ll feel myself again, vacuous, gray, a storm cloud spent.

I never do remember the witching hour, not the morning after.
