Shots!
The night devours us; the train departs with no brakes and no stops.
Bars. Pubs. Parties.
The blackness turns into purple. The first lights.
We fucked up. Again.
Let’s go home so we forget what we don’t remember.

Edward wrote like he got paid by the word. High on his own supply. His editor needed a multivitamin after trying to pare down his logorrhea.
Edward explained his latest inspiration. “It came to me in a night memory.”
The editor edited. “We have a simpler word for that. Dream.”
Waking alone. Feeling the cold side of the bed where your body fit into the dip in the mattress. Not feeling the warmth of your body curled up against mine. Quiet discussions of life and love, laughter and warmth. Nighttime memories are all that remain of when you were here.
