They stood next to each other at a concert. Each on their own. They sat in the same train, just a coach apart. They lived in the same building for a while and never met.
Their souls longed for the other; yet their paths never crossed, leaving them in the land of broken hearts.

Soulmate / 50 Words
“You said we were soulmates.” His face, chalk white.
“I did, and we were.” Natalie’s voice was cold, staring seaward.
Ben turned to her, “What happened to us then?”
She didn’t look at him. “You happened. Not us.”
“Meaning?”
She stood to leave. “You sold your soul. I kept mine.”
Heidi dropped a small fortune on a concierge matchmaker. The yenta beamed with pride handing over the printout.
“Best match I’ve ever made. Meet your soulmate!”
Heidi scanned. True enough a perfect fit. Religion. Politics. Literature. Salary. Charitable endeavors. Leading man jawline. She had just one question.
“Got anybody taller?”
