Sometimes, we act colorblind in the face of red flags. Ignorant to the weird late-night dates. The avoidance of mirrors. The need for a spoken invitation.
She knew but didn’t want to admit it. He was so lovely, so bright, so charming. He would never hurt her.
When one befriends a vampire, the signs are always there. And no matter how hard she tried to ignore it—the bite was all he ever wanted.
Oleg took Caroline for granted. Couldn’t see her ever outsmarting him. Caroline had only two words for Oleg when he called to scream at her. After his divorce lawyer gave him the bad news. His bulletproof pre-nup she’d signed now a worthless scrap of paper. The two words were what she would go on to name the sumptuous pleasure boat she’d buy with her half of his assets. “Disappearing Ink”.

All signs pointed to disaster, worried this could be it. The air filtration system would last just hours. Notes to loved ones were written with hopes someday to be found. The COB asked the XO to verify their depth. Just as he had thought. The hatch was opened allowing the Caribbean sunshine and fresh air inside.
