The scorched Earth crackled under Joyce’s feet. The dust—her only companion—rolled over the broken earth aimlessly, just like her.
It’s been Eons now since the world drew in its last breath; Joyce’s body still held strong, indestructible. But the mind was gone, dulled by the millennia of solitude.
So she continued to wander, just a relic of the past—lost.
Without an end, there was no point in the beginning.

Laszlo was wistful. Contemplating impermanence. Seemed everything changes. He was no longer an engineer. Married. A brunette. Heck, no longer Yugoslavian. Male, but he had come to learn that might not be etched in stone. His son’s name and number lit up his phone. And his disposition. He remembered, with joy, even after both of them were in a plot or an urn, he’d be a father. That was endless.
She was only four years old. She did not understand, and maybe he didn't understand, either. But he was old enough to know he was doing wrong.
Decades later, he begs for her forgiveness, but all her days have become an endless search for the love and trust that should have been her's by right. He's broken her heart and twisted her soul - for that he can never make amends.
