Tears dampened his pillow, breathing grew shallow as the darkness crept into his eyes. The time has come. The time to reach the stars.
80 Mg of Astronaut
“I was the first Astronaut” proclaimed the old gentleman in front of an enthusiastic audience. His story, told so expertly and detailed it would be difficult for those to dispute it. Holding up a moon rock swearing it was so, that he indeed had been to the moon. He received generous applause by patients of the Memory Care Unit. Helped to his room by Nurse Stacy, she smiled, adding “Gotta hand it to you Jules, You tell a good story!”
Astronaut Davies gazed back at Earth, a tiny blue marble, a world away. Years he'd been up here, lauded as a national hero, a pioneer of the cosmos. But all he wanted, all he craved, was a proper cuppa, a cheese and onion packet of crisps. He radioed mission control, his voice cracking. "Requesting immediate return, most urgent." The reply crackled, "But Dr. Davies, you haven’t even left the simulator yet, love. Kettle’s on, biscuits?"
