The Batch of Micro-Spooks! #3
The special edition batch of spooky micro-fictions from all around Substack!
Welcome to the special edition of the Batch! The spooktober is nearing its end! I hope you guys are having fun with such a long string of prompts around one “theme”.
I’m curious if this is something you would like to see more in the future. As up to this point most of the prompts were completely random with no connection whatsover. So let me know if you would like to see more themed series, like a week of horror, week of romance, week of Christmas stories etc.
Today on Microdosing our Spooktober prompt is HAUNTED HOUSE!
🎃Write a story in 60 words!🎃
Don’t forget to tag me if you follow along with the challenge!
Blood-soaked walls bleached spotless. The darkness secured in the depths of the basement. The house welcomes another family, blinded by the price.
They last mere months before, barely sane, they run, selling the house back to the agent for half the price.
The agent smiles and thanks the ghouls as he puts up a new for-sale sign. Ready to flip the house again.

Special shout out!
Today’s special shout out is not about micro—fiction at all! The awesome EJ Trask (one of the first members of the microdosing crew btw.) wrote a horror short starring yours truly. If you don’t like spiders don’t read it.
But if you’re ready to be grossed the fuck out, go for it it’s amazing!
Your stories
I hope this doesn’t get lost in this huge wall of text and amazing stories. But all of you are so awesome. These stories that are coming to life from these single word prompts are unbelievable. I laughed so hard putting this recap together, I was disgusted many times and I nearly cried reading some of them.
Thank you for writing with me. Go give other writers here some love, y’all deserve it.

HAUNTED HOUSE
He cried in his sleep now, haunted by a tiny ghost.
"Mom," he'd say. "Do you think Charlotte forgives me?"
Our beautiful black cat had fallen from his bedroom window.
"You told me not to open it, and I did anyway. I killed her."
He claimed he could hear her wailing all night long.
I never thought he would jump.
A HAUNTED HOUSE STORY in 60 Words.

I always hope next time it’ll be different. But once they move in, sure enough, it happens again. Doors slamming; objects flying; sinister noises; sometimes blood. I love people, truly I do. But something in me sees them as a foreign body that must be attacked. They say haunted. But actually, it’s a real condition: I’m just human intolerant.
