PROMPT: BEACH

THE DETECTORISTS

They'd been searching the beach for hours.

Sweeping the sand with their metal detectors, finding nothing but worthless bottle caps.

Then, just inside the mouth of a cave... BEEP.

Frantically, they started digging, revealing rings and bracelets.

There was just one problem.

There were still wrists and fingers wearing them... 😎

Love how it could lead to a longer tale.

Yes, that's the great thing with Flash Fiction, and Micro Fiction like this. They often hint at lots more going on around them... 😎

A great reminder to revisit a handful of mine and see what's lurking ... a plot, a character, perhaps. Happy writing, Chris

Can’t really beat your one with the excellent twist, but here goes…

I like to steal a jeep and go to the beach and run people down until the cops get really interested in me, bringing their guns and fast cars and helicopters, and then I try to outrun them back to my garage.

Is GTA one word or three?

Ah, good ol' GTA. I would say it works as a one word? Idk. I'm not a word cop.

Word: Beach

The ocean encapsulated his boat.

For the moment the boat cocooned him.

Enviously, he eyed his rifle, wrapped in plastic — afforded one more layer of protection than he was.

His gaze shifted towards the beach; the war was about to begin.

Awesome ending Miguel, it changed the whole atmosphere instantly.

Feeling a little silly but this is based on experience

-------

Sun out for its run

Kids running around

Clear blue waters sang

Brushed against the crystal sands

The warm breeze in the air

The feeling of life everywhere

As I lay down under a shade

Dreaming of things great

Tree disliked my bed

Dropped a coconut on my head

For years this cove has witnessed the ebbs and flows of my life. Peace is softly crunching shells under scuffed work boots, gathered pebbles making my coat hang drunkenly. Tranquillity shattered as louts frolic in the surf, low-slung car abandoned on pristine sands. Unseen by them the Spring tide stirs.

We arrived beachside. It was a hot, bright, sunny day. Windy. Some sought cooler umbrella shade. Some lay on bright beach blankets, catching the rays of that summer sun. Agile surfers caught waves and rode them in alone — just another beautiful summer beach day with ‘two girls for every boy’.

Once was a hidden very private coral key in Miami’s Biscayne Bay. Water’s warm, surf curled, underage college girls and guys lay in the sand; tipped a few. Beer Can Beach became the name. Most litter left was respectfully removed. Present time throngs arrive, trash chokes— coral reef is gone.
