THE MUFFIN

It was meant to be a surprise.

He was going to ask her to move in with him, and he'd hidden the key inside a blueberry muffin.

It was going to be so romantic.

Except she broke two teeth biting into it.

And now he's helping her sue the bakery... 😎

Oh nothing like a good stalker lover for a thrilling affair at least in fiction, in real life, it's pretty creepy. Great piece Miguel. Here is my answer to your prompt, a short thriller.

Prompt: Key

Sweat poured down Mark's face.

"Well, what is it?" asked Jenna.

"Quiet!" he spat out.

Everyone was on edge as they looked at the clock.

Mark ran through several permutations in his mind.

"That's it!"

He quickly entered the key.

The timer stopped!

Tick, tick.

And a new countdown began...

Inertia slipped into her heart like a cold, icy key. Her heart ached. Death was again playing a key role in her sad, miserable life. Her slender fingers shoved in the ignition key, starting the car. The windows were up. The garage was locked tight. Her death would arrive soon.
