Today on Microdosing our prompt is CHAINS!
Write a story in 80 words!
Don’t forget to tag me if you follow along with the challenge.
For twenty years, Maria lived a life she resented. Chained to her husband by the fear of solitude.
She stood at the bridge, her heartbeat so loud she couldn't hear the roaring river below. No more. She thought, stepping to the edge.
I can't do this anymore.
The ring slipped off her finger, and the shackles broke. She threw it as far as possible. As it sank into the dark water, a terrible weight lifted off her shoulders.
Freedom at last.
Raccoon note: The pendulum of the Dealer’s stories sways from a love story to a failed marriage, haha. This prompt has been sitting in my folder for some time now, the original idea was about Maria leaving her job, but I thought the ring x chain metaphor works really well.
I love how one prompt creates so many stories!
PROMPT: CHAINS
THE CHAINS
The chains were everywhere, wrapped all around him.
The weight of them was almost unbearable and he could barely move.
But they were all necessary.
Because being practically immobile was a small sacrifice to make, if it meant he had a better shot at winning the Mr. T lookalike contest… 😎
