I examined my tears in the microscope. At 10X, I saw my homunculus drowning. I rotated the lens to the 20X objective, and I could make out the filamentary remains of heart strings. With the 40X objective, I could make out the proteinaceous smithereens of my soul. And when I used immersion for 100X, I saw her drowning, too, face-up.
