Glad you eschewed Amazon. My reason for avoiding Amazon (to the extent of a bloody-minded boycott) is simply because I'm a socialist.
I had heard of Lulu. They seemed ok, so with your positive experience (which I shall also take as a kind of review) I may end up seriously considering them.
And it goes without saying that I wish you every success with the book. You certainly look happy in that pic!
I pushed the plunger. Red liquid drained into my flesh as tears rained down my face. I wanted to poke out the cyan eyes on my forehead; I thought I was ugly before. A warm, euphoric feeling washed over me - nothing could hurt me. I plopped down on the toilet. I promised I’d quit a million times until I had no one to promise.
Fists hammered the door. “Hurry up, asshole!”
I struck the door with my claw. “Fuck off!”
Becoming a freak showed me how ugly “people” are. Who are the real freaks? I’m not diseased; I’ve been cured!
Miguel, I'm so happy for you since I have enjoyed writing some of your microfiction myself. Your book looks beautiful and I can't wait to own a copy. CONGRATULATIONS my friend.
She jumped and caught the ball. She bounced on the grass patch, as if her body were weightless. She lost the ball, it bounced on the grass patch too. She got back up straight, full of energy and happiness. Full of enviable youth and vibrant mood, she kept her eyes on the target.
Another bounce on her legs, and she jumped even higher. She got hold of the ball. Large droplets of drool sprinkled over the grass.
The human whistled, a sign for them to go home.
Fetching the ball in her mouth, she run excitedly towards her human friend.
The sense of pure, unadulterated euphoria was almost overwhelming.
He was breathless, and exhausted, but he’d done it, at last.
After all the failed attempts, and the frustrating near misses he’d gone through to get to this point, he’d accomplished something that seemed impossible at the start.
He’d finally managed to crack open the coconut he’d won at the carnival… 🥥😎🥥
She smiled gently. "Every morning, my little dog greets me exuberantly. The crows laugh raucously, the roosters crow cheerfully, and the donkeys bray like Wookies, singing joyfully. I smell coffee, baking bread, the scent of wood smoke in the wind. My husband knows just where to rub my aching back. There's so much to see and smell and taste and feel and do. Life makes me happy."
And then, with a wink, "The fact that I have a spare kidney, so I can go on enjoying this life, makes me positively euphoric."
