Waimea Canyon is another attraction on the fabled north shore of O’ahu. Through the native Hawaiian botanical garden, filled with the sounds of local birds, lies Waimea Falls. Cascading down the lava rocks, filling a beautiful freshwater pool. Take a quick dip and you’ll be refreshed for the walk out.
The short 15th hole’s narrow green of this championship course was an island par three guarded in front by a wide, rambunctious waterfall. It required a deft, precise tee shot. There was no room for error. Deep bunkers and the waterfall’s creek source controlled both sides of the narrow green.
He floated gently down the river. The water almost flat apart from a few ripples that nudged him from side to side.
Bobbing up and down increased along with the pace of the water. He gripped the rim of his barrel tightly as his friends cheered him over the edge.
