A continuation of my 'Grime' microdose incorporated here:

Sat on the bed, open wounds exposed to the night air, there was a feeling almost of relief deep in my soul. Like an exorcism releasing the internal impurities from my poisoned body. The annihilation preceding rehabilitation. Applying antiseptic to my scratch covered torso and arms, I finally realise I’m ready for the next chapter of my life to start…

PROMPT: CHAPTER

THE NEXT CHAPTER

It was time for the next chapter in our relationship.

We’d been together for almost two years, and it seemed crazy to wait any longer.

We needed to stop fooling around and make a proper commitment.

It was what we both wanted, and we felt ready.

So we did it.

We finally shared all our online passwords with each other… 😎

The nurse’s bright greeting caught in her throat when she saw the woman slumped sideways against her pillow. The book was still opened in her lap, her eyes still fixed on its pages. Gently she removed it from her grip. Closing it hurt, knowing the woman had saved it. Four pages left in the final chapter, hers had ended first.

Like it or not, we have been unexpectantly thrust into a new chapter in politics.

Last night’s announcement affects our election, forcing people to adapt.

Like in 1968, when Bobby Kennedy was killed.

We all had to stop and reflect on the effect this would have on the upcoming election.

Nixon’s election sent thousands to Vietnam who couldn’t yet vote.

I Cloud chapter. One more than I thought I’d create; but find there might be another to become, as events rise and fall with sun and moon’s tidal pull to toss waves at me like the beach ball that rides the crests to tumble and catch up with the other foam bubbles that scrub the rocks to sand. I just wait. Watch the day unfold. Look at sky, clouds pass, rise and reform into shapes, reborn into another chapter in the life of one more shape-shifting amorphous form.

“Men, you’ve served your sentences, you’ll be released today to start a new chapter.”

The guard signalled for the prison gate to open.

Ned looked at the old-timer standing with him. Guy was old. Eighty? Older?

“How long you been inside?”

“Seventy year, I guess...” Voice thin, papery. Drooling.

“What were you in for?”

“Can’t ‘member.” Empty stare. “New chapter...”
