PROMPT: SNOW

THE SNOW

The kids were going to be so excited.

A White Christmas was waiting for them when they woke up.

Just like they wanted.

And it looked magical.

There wasn’t quite enough of it to build a snowman, though.

But then, we were living in Florida now, and it was the best I could do spraying snow out of a can… ❄️😎❄️

The crisp clean snow was new no tracks

Of animals, tires or footfalls.

Perfect for snow angels

I yearned to spread my wings.

But alas, if I did I’d be stuck.

But I could do another childhood memory.

I ran to the kitchen and got the biggest bowl I had.

It was time for snow ice-cream….

Precious snow memories with great taste!

Microdosing - 60mg of Snow

===

The email about their client’s success story was quite uplifting. They celebrated for 2 seconds. When they got to the last paragraph, they realized that the management team had patted each other’s shoulders, leaving out the employees who did the groundwork. He moved the email to a new folder, named it ‘Snow in the Sahara’ – fitted for a short-lived joy.

Snow ❄️⛄❄️

Paul lay gasping, each breath a shallow whisper of winter’s chill. Beside him, Clara pressed a cool cloth to his fevered brow.

“Draw the curtains, Clara,” he murmured. “The snow soothes my soul, stills this restless heart.”

As snow thickened, veiling the world in argent quiet, his fever waned—and with it, Paul slipped into eternal silence.

In the dark of the windless night

soft snow fell and layered white

upon white upon white

Each scant leaf and bough.

Blue in the crystal glow of dawn

Then breaks an orange golden morn

the sun with glitter frost adorns

a world in four dimensions now.

A beautiful word painting!

thank you Jeannine. I did quite like it myself - poetry doesnt often pop out of my brain box, but when it does it I feel a little bit pleased with myself, especially when the rhymes just seem to work without being shoehorned in. Glad you saw it as a painting.

My 60 mg of a Snow

---------------------------

Everything was made of a pure silencing white. And no matter how hard you tried to speak, the pure, cold blinding white made it difficult to breathe. You feel amazed by the immense sea of white, a sea of milk. But then you woke up from that dream where all you existed was a white that was blend with you.

Snow

It was tumbling down in giant clumps now, the snow that started on their walk to the bus.

The layers setting on the ground pushed the warm light from lamps away from it.

“What shall we do?” she asked.

He threw a snowball into the abandoned road, no echo of it landing.

“Seems a nice place to wait anyway,” he replied.

Nice story, Miguel! You really captured the wide-eyed astonishment of a child's first snow!! That last line is funny, too.

Snow

She shivered. Her clothes fit only for sunshine.

‘It shouldn’t be cold here.’

But it was and it would be, forever and ever.

Amen, the clouds thundered silently in the fungus-coloured sky, and the first heavy flakes fell, big, white and sloppy, millions upon millions of them. She lay down in the whiteness, eyes closed, spread-eagled. The last snow angel.

When I awoke this morning,

I saw snow out today.

It's blocking the road

And clogs up the pathways.

But snow isn't all bad,

It's good for cold play,

Like snowshoeing and skiing,

So I guess snow's okay.

But I long for the days

Of warm sunshine and hay,

So for now you are welcome,

But please, snow, don't stay.
